Rob has been working as a Stonemason since leaving school in 1988 and he currently resides in Worcestershire. He sources his stone from local quarries and uses Red and White Hollington Stone, Bath Limestone and Cotswold stone.

Whether you aspire to build a career in the stonemasonry or simply wish to explore this timeless craft, this course serves as the perfect gateway to your journey.
The location – Batsford Arboretum Education Centre. Parking is free. Walk towards reception , go through the double doors to the left of reception , up the steps and through the picnic benches. We will be around to greet you.
Arrival – the course starts at 9.30am, so arrive between 5 and 10 minutes beforehand to get yourself settled.
Finish time – We aim to finish the course at 3.30pm.
Lunch – There is a café on site and toilet facilities in the main building.
You are welcome to use the café , however due to long queues at times it may be advisable to bring a packed lunch. We will provide free tea , coffee and homemade cake during the day.
What to wear – comfortable clothing. There will not be much mess , so wear what you feel most comfortable in. Wear covered in shoes like trainers.
The aim of the course – Rob will take you through step by step the process of carving stone. There will also be helpful step by step photographs on the projector to help you. Rob and his wife Jo will be available to support and guide you.
By the end of the day you will be able to take home your own stone carving – this can be used indoors or in the garden -whichever you choose.
